Last week, we went to a baseball game in Tokyo with some friends. We saw the Tokyo Swallows play the Tokyo Giants — a cross-town Tokyo showdown! The Swallows, though, fit in with the Chicago Cubs, when it comes to talent pool.
The Giants, by comparison, are the Japanese equivalent of the Yankees; they pay top dollar for their players. In fact, many Giants players have gone on to play in the Major Leagues in the States.
Despite this, the Swallows crushed the Giants, 6-2. We’re going back for another game next week and are going to sit in the middle of the crazed Swallows fans, instead of on the edges, where we’ve sat previously. If we make it onto the Jumbotron (Swallowtron?), you’ll read about it here first.
