According to a subway ad from www.ecareer.ne.jp, a Japanese recruiting site, there are three reasons to look for a new job:
1. When I’m 30, I’d like to make 10,000,000 Yen per year (about $90k).
2. I’d like to be able to say that I work at a good company.
3. Starting at 6PM, I’d like to drink beer.
I thought the last one was a joke, but Yukari assures me that it’s probably not intended to be funny. Go figure.
Incidentally, SoftBank, which owns ecareer, is also the largest shareholder of Yahoo! Japan.

Walking around Tokyo over the weekend, I came across Japanese Scientologists! They had parked themselves, along with their e-meters, along Tokyo’s self-proclaimed Champs Elysee, right next to the Omotesando subway station.
They had a sign advertising free ストレステスト (stress tests) and had people lined up. I’m not sure if modern Japan’s general lack of religious practice would make Japanese more or less susceptible to weird, exploitative cults that believe in past lives as clams.
