Incredible Bike Messenger Video

Guns N' Roses not withstanding, this is an incredible video, shot from a helmet-mounted camera, of what I can only assume are bike messengers "drag racing" through (and eventually out of) Manhattan.

Laugh as they wave each other through red lights! Cringe as they cut off taxi cabs! Marvel as they physically assault NYC buses!

Dialup users need not apply -- 20+ megabyte file.

This post is dedicated to Andrew Curry.

Why do U think he’s smoking? It seems like he’s drinking something rather than…
I don’t see any smoke except due to cold air

an interesting side note. Quite a few bike messangers prefer to use “track bikes” more commonly seen on velodromes. The kicker is that these direct drive bikes have no brakes and rely solely on the rider “feeding back”through the cranks to slow down. You can see one of these bike in the second segment of the video. The rider has his feet off the pedals and the crank is keeping pace with the wheel revolutions. Thats right folks….no brakes, pure balls.
